The Florida Department of Transportation's contractor, Commercial Industrial Corporation, is repaving and reconstructing US 98/SR 50 (Cortez Boulevard) from east of SR 50A to the west of Live Oak Drive in Hernando County.

Improvements include:

  • Replacing sections of asphalt at the intersection with concrete to better handle the heavy truck traffic in this area
  • Repaving the remaining section of roadway with asphalt
  • Adding sidewalk to both sides of the roadway

Motorists are advised that traffic shifts and lane closures will be required to build this project. Work requiring lane closures may occur nightly from 7:00 to 7:00 am.

Electronic message boards will alert motorists to the upcoming closures.

This $4.7 million project is anticipated to finish in the summer of 2018.
