Drainage Work Closed Northbound Lanes on Nebraska Avenue South of Hillsborough Avenue
Tampa, FL - On Monday, January 6, FDOT closed both northbound lanes on Nebraska Avenue just south of Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa. This closure is necessary for crews to install new drainage pipes under Nebraska Avenue between Giddens Avenue and Hillsborough Avenue.
This section of roadway is expected to reopen in approximately 30 days, weather permitting. During this closure, motorists are being detoured around the work zone using Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Florida Avenue and Hillsborough Avenue.
Access to residents and businesses are being maintained during this closure. Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards are being used to assist motorists traveling through the detour route. Motorists should anticipate heavier than normal volumes of traffic on all nearby roads during this closure.
This work is part of the $9.3 million repaving project of Hillsborough Avenue (US 92) between Central Avenue and North 56th Street. Other improvements include drainage and traffic signal upgrades at Nebraska Avenue and 34th Street North. This project began last August and is expected to finish in late 2020.
