This project will upgrade the southbound I-75 rest area in southern Hillsborough County at mile marker 238 between SR 674 and the Little Manatee River. Project work will include repaving the exit and entrance ramps, upgrading sidewalks and restrooms, and improving lighting. 

As of December 3, 2018, the rest area is now closed for construction. It is anticipated to be completed and reopened in the spring of 2019.

The entire rest area is closed to the public during the project. Motorists are not able to exit I-75 to the rest area property. Here is the information for the nearest southbound I-75 rest areas:

  • Next OPEN Rest Area: Mile marker 131 in Lee County (107 miles after the closed facility).
  • Rest Area open PRIOR to the closed Rest Area: Mile marker 278 in Pasco County (40 miles before the closed facility).
  • For truckers, there is a Weigh-In-Motion / Comfort Station in Charlotte County at Mile Marker 158 (80 miles after the closed facility).

  • Southbound I-75 rest area in Hillsborough County is closed for construction

    Ruskin, FL -- The southbound I-75 rest area at mile marker 238 in southern Hillsborough County is closed for construction work (began December 3, 2018). Repair work on this $2.3 million project is estimated to be completed and the rest area reopened to the public in spring 2019.
