THIS TASK (8) WAS PARTIALLY ACCEPTED ON APRIL 11, 2019. 

The Florida Department of Transportation's Design-Build firm, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, is making safety improvements for pedestrian and bicyclist accessing the Withlacoochee Trail near the existing signalized intersection of US 41 (North Florida Avenue) at North Independence Highway in Citrus County. 

Improvements include:  

- remove Withlacoochee Trail approaches to North Independence Highway. Leave existing sidewalks along North Independence Highway. 

- build new Withlacoochee Trail approaches with curvature and pedestrian detector push buttons in advance of the trail crossing North Independence, relocate existing pedestrian signal poles. 

Construction activities will take place during daytime and nighttime hours. Work requiring lane closures will occur at night from 7 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.

This project is to expected to finish in the spring of 2019.
