Temporary Traffic Pattern Coming to SR 60 in Plant City

Beginning at 9 p.m., Thursday, June 5, the Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC, will implement a temporary traffic pattern on SR 60 from west of SR 39 to west of Clarence Gordon Jr. Road in Plant City.

Once in place, motorists should expect reduced travel lanes on SR 60 as the new traffic pattern will shift traffic to the south side of the road and temporarily restrict U-turn movements. This construction phase will remain in place for approximately 6 weeks, weather permitting.

Motorists should anticipate traffic delays and congestion during this project. Access to businesses, residents, and emergency vehicles is to be maintained. Drivers are reminded to slow down, stay alert, and drive safely while traveling through the work zone.

Improvements to SR 60 include repaving from SR 39 to Clarence Gordon Jr. Road and replacing the asphalt pavement with concrete at the intersection of SR 39 in Hillsborough County. In addition, the department is modifying median openings on SR 60 to the east and west of SR 39. These median closures will improve safety and traffic flow along this section of the SR 60 corridor. Construction activities are expected to finish during early 2026.
