This design-build project is making safety improvements for pedestrians crossing US 92 (Hillsborough Avenue) at MacDill Avenue in Hillsborough County.  

Project description: 

The intersection of Hillsborough Avenue at MacDill Avenue features three westbound through lanes, a westbound left turn lane, a westbound bike lane, three eastbound through lanes, an eastbound left-turn lane and an eastbound bike lane. The approaches on MacDill Avenue at Hillsborough Avenue have a single lane in the northbound and southbound direction. 

The purpose of this project is to improve the safety of pedestrians crossing Hillsborough Avenue and motorists on MacDill Avenue making left turns on to US 92 Hillsborough Avenue. The existing full median opening will be modified to provide a directional median opening in conjunction with the Emergency Signal being converted to a full signal.

Motorists traveling north or south on MacDill Avenue will no longer be able to make a left turn to travel west or east on Hillsborough Avenue. Motorists traveling eastbound and westbound on Hillsborough Avenue will still be able to take a left turn at MacDill Avenue.

Construction is expected to finish the fall of 2020.
