The Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor, David Nelson Construction, is widening Ulmerton road between 49th St. north and 38th St. North.  As part of the widening, the intersection of SR 688 (Ulmerton Road) and Roosevelt Boulevard south of the St. Pete-Clearwater airport was reconfigured.

The southbound Roosevelt Boulevard to eastbound Ulmerton Road ramp was removed and replaced by three left turn lanes at a new traffic signal. This new traffic pattern will not only improve traffic safety but will also allow traffic to flow on to Ulmerton Road more efficiently.

Project improvements included:

· Removing the Roosevelt Blvd flyover bridge leading from the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport to Ulmerton Rd

· Adding three left turn lanes from Roosevelt Blvd on to eastbound Ulmerton Rd

· Installing a new traffic signal at the intersection of Ulmerton Rd and Roosevelt Blvd

Construction activities are taking place day and night. However, most lane closures are occurring during nighttime hours.
