About
The Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor, Preferred Materials, is repaving three miles of US 19 from Whitney Road to just north of Bryan Dairy Road in Pinellas County.
The contractor is currently repairing existing sidewalks. A new sidewalk is being added along the southbound frontage road at 66th Street. The shoulders along the frontage road at 66th Street is also being widened. New highway lighting will be added to the frontage road at the Whitney Road Interchange.
Paving activities along the mainline, frontage roads and ramps are scheduled to begin in April, weather permitting. In some locations, the frontage roads and ramps will be closed while they are repaved. This will occur at night and traffic will be detoured around the work zone.
Motorists should expect lane closures during the day as well as at night. The $10.1 million project began February 22 and is anticipated to be complete in early 2017.
