About
This project is widening SR 52 to a six-lane divided highway from the Suncoast Parkway to east of US 41 and approximately one mile total of widening on US 41 approaching the SR 52 intersection in each direction. The intersection of SR 52 and US 41 is being rebuilt in concrete to better handle truck starts, stops, and turning movements. This project ties into the US 41 widening project that was completed in October 2023.
A 12-foot wide multi-use trail is also being constructed along the north side of SR 52.
Progress
US 41 traffic was shifted closer to the permanent configuration July 31, 2023 when northbound traffic was moved to the east side of the corridor. In October 2023, all US 41 thru lanes were opened. Additional turn lanes will open once more thru lanes are opened on SR 52.
SR 52 traffic was put into the final corridor alignment in October 2023 with one lane opened in each direction. Additional thru lanes are anticipated to open by spring 2024 as final paving is completed.
