New Northbound I-275 Exit 39 Traffic Pattern Begins August 10

Tampa, FL – Beginning Monday night, August 10, at 10 p.m., motorists can expect a new traffic pattern for I-275 Exit 39, weather permitting. The new northbound I-275 exit movement to S.R. 60 West, S.R. 589 North, and Tampa International Airport will relocate to approximately one-half mile north of the current exit location. The traffic pattern is part of ongoing construction for the Tampa Westshore Interchange Improvements project.

Motorists heading to S.R. 60 West, S.R. 589 North, or Tampa International Airport should remain on northbound I-275 for an additional one-half mile before using the new temporary exit. The temporary roadway will reconnect motorists with the existing ramp to S.R. 60 West, S.R. 589 North, and Tampa International Airport.

To implement the new traffic pattern, the northbound I-275 Exit 39 ramp to Kennedy Boulevard/S.R. 60 East will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the following nights:

• Monday, August 10, through Wednesday, August 12
• Sunday, August 16, and Monday, August 17

During the nighttime closures, motorists traveling to Kennedy Boulevard should continue north on I-275, exit at Lois Avenue, travel south on Lois Avenue, and turn west onto Kennedy Boulevard.

The Kennedy Boulevard/S.R. 60 East ramp closures will occur overnight only. Outside the listed closure hours, motorists will continue to use Exit 39 to access Kennedy Boulevard/S.R. 60 East.

Motorists should allow additional travel time, remain alert for changing traffic conditions, and follow posted signs when traveling through the interchange. Drivers are reminded to use caution, slow down, and avoid distractions in the construction area.

The temporary exit configuration for motorists traveling from northbound I-275 to S.R. 60 West, S.R. 589 North, and Tampa International Airport is anticipated to remain in place through fall 2028. The schedule is subject to change based on weather, construction progress, or other unforeseen conditions.
