Tampa International Airport Ramps to SR 60 and SR 589 Closing Monday Night

Tampa, FL - Temporary ramp closures from George J. Bean Parkway (Tampa International Airport) to westbound SR 60 (Memorial Highway) and northbound SR 589 (Veterans Expressway) will occur from 11 p.m., Monday, September 9 to 6 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, weather permitting.

Motorists exiting the Tampa International Airport will have to use the Spruce Street ramp (stay right at the fork), continue east on Spruce Street, turn south onto Westshore Boulevard, turn west onto Kennedy Boulevard, and proceed north toward the SR 60 (Memorial Highway) and SR 589 (Veterans Expressway) ramps.

Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will assist vehicles traveling through the area. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work zone and remain alert for construction workers.

These temporary ramp closures are necessary for overhead sign installation work as part of the widening of westbound SR 60 near the Tampa International Airport. The $45.5 million project is adding one westbound SR 60 (Memorial Highway) travel lane from the George J. Bean Parkway to the Courtney Campbell Causeway and constructing a new flyover ramp from westbound SR 60 to the Independence Parkway near the Tampa International Airport.

Plant City, FL – Starting at 9 p.m., Friday, September 6, the eastbound I-4 ramps (entrance and exit) at Park Road will close until 5 a.m., Monday, September 9, weather permitting.

Eastbound I-4 motorists needing to access Park Road will have to exit the interstate using Exit 21, cross Wheeler Street (SR 39A), proceed onto South Frontage Road, and continue east toward Park Road.    

Motorists needing to access eastbound I-4 will turn east onto South Frontage Road, cross Charlie Taylor Road, and continue east toward Park Road.  

Electronic message boards and signage will assist motorists traveling through the area. Drivers should use caution while driving through the work zone and remain alert for construction workers.

These temporary ramp closures are part of the I-4 repaving project from east of McIntosh Road to County Line Road in Hillsborough County.

Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will assist drivers traveling through the area. Motorists should use caution while driving through each work zone and remain alert for construction workers.

Closing: Southbound I-275 ramp (Exit 28) to Westbound Gandy Boulevard

During these temporary ramp closures, southbound motorists will exit the interstate using Exit 26, turn east onto 54th Avenue North, re-enter the interstate using the northbound I-275 entrance ramp, continue north toward Exit 28, and proceed west onto Gandy Boulevard.

Closing: Westbound Gandy Boulevard Ramp to Southbound I-275

During these temporary ramp closures, westbound motorists will remain on Gandy Boulevard, make a U-turn at the next traffic signal (Grand Avenue), and proceed east toward the southbound I-275 entrance ramp.

These closures are necessary as part of SR 694 (Gandy Boulevard) repaving project from Grand Avenue to I-275 in Pinellas County. Construction activities are expected to finish during summer of 2024.

Segment of Withlacoochee State Trail is closed

Inverness -- A segment of the Withlacoochee State Trail is closed (as of August 14, 2024) for construction from mile marker 27 (south of the Fort Cooper Trailhead) to mile marker 28.58 (Eden Drive).

The Segment 1 closure is part of a $1.3 million project to resurface portions of the trail in Citrus County. Construction will take place in segments, with one segment area of the trail closed at a time. Each segment will be closed around-the-clock for up to several weeks.

Segment 1 is anticipated to reopen to trail users within the first two weeks of September, weather permitting. For safety, the public is asked to stay off the closed segment at all times until it reopens.

Sidewalk / parking spaces closed at old Pasco County Courthouse

Dade City -- Sidewalk and parking spaces along CR 52 / Meridian Avenue in front of the old Pasco County Courthouse (37918 Meridian Ave.) are closed around-the-clock to install drainage improvements. The sidewalk and parking spaces are on the south side of Meridian Avenue between US 98 / 7th Street and 6th Street. the closures are expected to be in place into mid-September.

DETOUR: Pedestrian traffic is being routed around the work area using sidewalks along 7th Street, Pasco Avenue, and 6th Street.

Northbound Old Lakeland Highway access to northbound US 98 Bypass / US 301 will continue to be available to drivers.

DETOUR: Southbound US 98 Bypass traffic is detoured south on US 98 / 7th Street through downtown Dade City. Instead of turning on Meridian Avenue to rejoin the US 98 Bypass, southbound traffic remains on US 98 / 7th Street and continues south on US 98 to south of SR 52 (Clinton Avenue), then turns left to continue on US 98 to Old Lakeland Highway.

This around-the-clock closure will remain in place into early 2025 when a roundabout is anticipated to open at the intersection of US 98 Bypass / US 301 and Old Lakeland Highway.

Dade City -- Southbound US 98 Bypass / US 301 is closed (began Friday night, March 1, 2024) from River Road to Meridian Avenue. The closure will be in place until approximately late summer 2025. Northbound US 98 Bypass / US 301 traffic will remain open to traffic. Drivers need to access properties in the closure area from northbound US 98 Bypass / US 301 or local streets.

Detour Route: Traffic travelling southbound on US 98 / US 301 approaching the work zone is detoured south on US 98 / 7th Street through downtown Dade City to the southern end of 7th Street at the US 98 Bypass / US 301.

To help avoid delays and bypass downtown Dade City, trucks and other large vehicles that are using southbound US 98 to continue south beyond Dade City are encouraged to take SR 50 west to southbound I-75 and return to US 98 on eastbound SR 52.
