WB I-4 Lanes through Downtown Tampa Interchange
Closing Monday and Wednesday Nights
Tampa, FL – Continuing next week, a temporary nighttime closure of all westbound I-4 travel lanes through the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-4/I-275) will occur Monday, January 12, and Wednesday, January 14, from 10 p.m. to 5 am, weather permitting.
Motorists traveling west on I-4 will have to exit the interstate using the Selmon Connector, continue onto the Selmon Expressway (SR 618), and use Exit 8 (Downtown East-West) to access Kennedy Boulevard (SR 60). To access I-275 south, motorists should continue west on Kennedy Boulevard, turn right onto Ashley Drive, and re-enter the interstate using the southbound I-275 entrance ramp. For I-275 north, motorists should continue west on Kennedy Boulevard, turn right onto Jefferson Street, continue north onto Orange Avenue, and re-enter the interstate using the northbound I-275 entrance ramp.
Tolls on the westbound Selmon Expressway (SR 618) will be suspended between the Selmon Connector and Exit 8 (Kennedy Boulevard) during the closure. Message boards and signage will assist drivers traveling through the area. Motorists should use caution while driving through the work zone and remain alert for construction workers.
In addition, the northbound I-275 ramp to eastbound I-4 will close from 12:01 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, for the removal of an overhead sign structure on the interstate. Motorists wanting to access eastbound I-4 from northbound I-275 will continue driving north toward Exit 46B, turn left onto SR 574/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, re-enter the interstate using the southbound I-275 entrance ramp, continue south on I-275 toward the eastbound I-4 ramp (Exit 45B).
These temporary interstate closures are necessary for crews to perform overhead sign structure installation work as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project.

7th Ave between Central Ave and Nebraska Ave Closing through December
Tampa, FL – Continuing Friday, November 14, 2025, the Florida Department of Transportation has closed 7th Avenue between Nebraska Avenue and Central Avenue through January 2026.
Motorists traveling westbound on 7th Avenue will need to detour around the work zone by turning right onto Nebraska Avenue, left onto Palm Avenue, left onto Central Avenue, and continuing south toward 7th Avenue.
Eastbound 7th Avenue motorists will need to detour around the work zone by turning left onto Central Avenue, right onto Palm Avenue, right onto Nebraska Avenue, and continuing south toward 7th Avenue.
Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone and remain alert for pedestrians and construction workers.
This road closure is necessary for crews to perform drainage installation work as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project. Construction activities are scheduled to finish early 2027.
