Symmes Road west of US 301 Closing for 21 Days

Riverview, FL – Symmes Road, west of US 301, will close for 21 days starting early Monday morning, January 5, 2026, weather permitting.

During this temporary road closure, drivers must detour around the work zone using Gibsonton Drive or Big Bend Road (CR 672) and US 41 to access Symmes Road. Northbound and southbound US 301, along with Symmes Road to the east of the intersection, will remain open to traffic during this phase of construction.

Message boards and signage will assist drivers traveling through the area. Commercial vehicles and trucks are reminded to follow the posted detours, avoid using local roads as alternate routes, and drive safely through the work zone.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is making improvements to the intersection of US 301 and Symmes Road in Hillsborough County. This project is replacing the asphalt pavement with a durable concrete surface, performing drainage improvements, and updating ramps and sidewalks to ADA standards.

Lane closures (middle eastbound): Monday, December 22 through Tuesday, December 23 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lane closures (outside eastbound): 24 hours a day through late 2026

Dixie Avenue access to US 98/US 301 to close temporarily

Dade City -- Access to and from US 98/US 301 at Dixie Avenue (east side of US 98/US 301) is expected to be closed from Thursday, December 11 through approximately January 2026 for construction related to the US 98 Bypass widening project. 

DETOUR: Drivers can use Sunset Avenue and 3rd Street to access Dixie Avenue. 

US 301 from Bloomingdale Avenue to SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) 
Continuous lane closure: 8 p.m., Sunday, December 21 through 6 a.m. Friday, January 30

 

US 301 from south I -75 to north of I-75  
Continuous lane closure: 8 p.m., Sunday, December 21 through 6 a.m. Friday, January 19

 

SR 39 between Kilgore Road to East Sparkman Road 
Lane closures (northbound): 24 hours a day from Sunday, December 21 through Saturday, December 27 (closure to continue through February 10, 2026)


 

I-75 from SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) to Fowler Avenue 
Lane closures: Sunday, December 21 through Tuesday, December 23 nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (lane closure to continue through Friday January 30, 2026)

 

New Traffic Pattern Coming to Big Bend Road in Riverview

Beginning next week, nighttime crews will restripe travel lanes on Big Bend Road between Simmons Loop and US 301 to accommodate a new traffic pattern in Riverview.

This phase of the project will temporarily close medians on Big Bend Road to allow construction crews to work safely along the middle and the south side of the roadway through spring 2026. Motorists will have to make U-turns at US 301, Lincoln Road, and Simmons Loop to access driveways and side streets on Big Bend Road.

Drivers are reminded to slow down, stay alert, and drive safely through the work zone.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is widening Big Bend Road (CR 672) between Simmons Loop and US 301 to a six-lane divided road in Hillsborough County. In addition, this project is replacing the existing asphalt pavement with a concrete surface at the intersection of US 301 and Big Bend Road. Construction activities are expected to finish in late 2027, weather permitting.

7th Ave between Central Ave and Nebraska Ave Closing through December

Tampa, FL – Continuing Friday, November 14, 2025, the Florida Department of Transportation has closed 7th Avenue between Nebraska Avenue and Central Avenue through January 2026.

Motorists traveling westbound on 7th Avenue will need to detour around the work zone by turning right onto Nebraska Avenue, left onto Palm Avenue, left onto Central Avenue, and continuing south toward 7th Avenue.

Eastbound 7th Avenue motorists will need to detour around the work zone by turning left onto Central Avenue, right onto Palm Avenue, right onto Nebraska Avenue, and continuing south toward 7th Avenue.

Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone and remain alert for pedestrians and construction workers.

This road closure is necessary for crews to perform drainage installation work as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project. Construction activities are scheduled to finish early 2027.

Section of Courtney Campbell Causeway Pedestrian Trail Closing Temporarily

Clearwater, FL – Beginning Tuesday, January 14, the southside of the Courtney Campbell Causeway Pedestrian Trail from Bayshore Boulevard to Dr. Kiran C Patel Boulevard will close through late 2025, weather permitting.

Advanced warning signs will be installed on each side of the pedestrian trail to alert the public of the planned closure.

This closure is necessary for crews to construct the pedestrian overpass over SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) east of Bayshore Boulevard, connecting the Bayshore trail and the Courtney Campbell trail. Construction activities are expected to finish in late 2026.
