About
This project includes rigid pavement reconstruction of the US 98 / SR 50 intersection at Mondon Hill Road / Spring Lake Highway in the Brooksville area of Hernando County. The intersection will be reconstructed from asphalt to concrete pavement.
Additional improvements include asphalt resurfacing of the pavement approaches to the concrete area of the intersection, safety modifications, providing ADA compliant curb ramps, driveway reconstruction, minor drainage modifications, minor signalization work, signing and pavement markings, and lighting improvements.
Construction is underway as of May 18, 2026.

UPDATE>>> Mondon Hill Road is closed temporarily at US 98 / SR 50 - now until September 21
Mondon Hill Road remains closed at US 98 / SR 50 (began Wednesday night, September 9) until 5 a.m. Monday, September 21 for concrete paving work at the intersection. The detours during the closure are listed below. Motorists are advised to plan a few extra moments into their schedules to travel the detour routes.
The intersection was planned to reopen at 5 a.m. September 14 and then close again from 11 p.m. September 16 to 5 a.m. September 21. However, for improved efficiency and a better finished product, Mondon Hill Road will remain closed at US 98 / SR 50 until September 21.
Detours:
- Eastbound SR 50 to northbound Mondon Hill Road – traffic will continue driving east to Raley Road, turn left at Raley Road, make a left at McAllister Street, make a left at Frank Court, make a right at Bertram Road, and make a right onto Mondon Hill Road.
- Westbound SR 50 to northbound Mondon Hill Road – prior to reaching Mondon Hill Road, traffic will turn right at Raley Road, make a left at McAllister Street, make a left at Frank Court, make a right at Bertram Road, and make a right onto Mondon Hill Road.
- Northbound Spring Lake Highway to Mondon Hill Road – traffic will turn right onto SR 50, turn left at Raley Road, make a left at McAllister Street, make a left at Frank Court, make a right at Bertram Road, and make a right onto Mondon Hill Road.
- Southbound Mondon Hill Road to eastbound and westbound SR 50 – traffic will make a left onto Bertram Road, left onto Frank Court, right onto McAllister Street, right onto Raley Road, and then proceed south to SR 50 to go either direction on SR 50.
