The purpose of this project is to improve safety and traffic operations along State Road (S.R.) 39 (Alexander Street) near S.R. 574 (Reynolds Street). Planned improvements on S.R. 39 (Alexander Street) include:

• Extending the existing northbound left-turn lane at S.R. 574 (Reynolds Street) and the southbound left-turn lane at Nosleda Street.
• Closing the eastbound left turn from Lowry Avenue to northbound S.R. 39 (Alexander Street); all other turning movements at this intersection will remain.
• Restricting all left-turn movements to and from S.R. 39 (Alexander Street), as well as side-street through movements across S.R. 39 (Alexander Street) at Granfield Avenue.

These median modifications are expected to reduce conflict points, enhance overall safety, and improve traffic operations along the corridor.

PUBLIC MEETING

The Florida Department of Transportation invites you to attend a public meeting regarding the proposed median modifications along Alexander Street/S.R. 39 near Reynolds Street/S.R. 574 in Hillsborough County. The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Woman’s Club of Plant City, 1110 North Wheeler Street, Plant City, FL 33563. Attendees will have the opportunity to review project information and displays, speak with project team members and submit comments. For those unable to attend the public meeting in person, meeting materials and the pre-recorded presentation will be posted to the project website on January 13, 2026.
