Skyway Fishing Piers

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Seven, is replacing the Skyway fishing pier in Manatee County and rehabilitating the Skyway fishing pier in Hillsborough County. As part of this project, four timber fishing piers, each 200 feet long, will be constructed in Manatee County, along the existing South Skyway Fishing Pier Access Road. Additional improvements will include sidewalks, accessible parking pads, accessible ramps, and protective bollards.

A one-mile concrete fishing pier will also be constructed, adjacent to the existing active fishing pier in Manatee County. Access to the new fishing pier will be for pedestrians and emergency vehicles only. Additional improvements include a paved parking area and miscellaneous small buildings as required, such as a bait house, pay house, and restrooms.

The North Skyway Fishing Pier, located in Hillsborough County, will be rehabilitated to extend the service life, while maintaining structural integrity, safety, and functionality.

Throughout the duration of this project, access to fishing will be maintained.
