PARTIAL ACCEPTED: ON NOVEMBER 2, 2019

The Florida Department of Transportation's Design-Build Firm, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, is installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) fiber for wrong-way detection at I-4 off-ramps at SR 33/CR 582 in Polk County. 

In recent years, the Department has been installing these sites throughout the District as a safety measure to help prevent wrong-way events.

These sites consist of a static sign and red flashing beacons that turn on when a motorist travels in the opposite direction of traffic which then sends an automated alert to the FDOT District 7 SunGuide Center communicating the actuation of a wrong-way event. 

This project is expected to finish in the fall of 2019.
