About
This project is widening and reconstructing SR 50 (Cortez Blvd) from east of US 301 to the Sumter County line. The two-lane roadway will be widened to a four-lane roadway and two bridges will be built over the CSX railroad crossing. A 12-foot-wide shared use path will be built on the south side of the roadway.
Burwell Road has been realigned to a new intersection with SR 50 just to the east of its pre-construction location.
Construction is projected to be completed in the fall of 2025.
* Construction cost includes original construction contract amount plus approved contract changes. It does not include inspection oversite.
PROJECT UPDATES
SR 50 shifted to new bridge over CSX railroad tracks
Ridge Manor (Wednesday, November 6, 2024) – State Road 50 traffic was shifted to the new bridge over the railroad tracks east of US 301. Both eastbound and westbound traffic are now in an alignment that uses the new bridge, which ultimately will be used only for eastbound SR 50 once construction of a new westbound bridge is completed and opened to traffic.
The traffic shift to the south side of the SR 50 corridor also realigned the SR 50 / Burwell Road (CR 575) intersection just east of the original location and west of the temporary intersection that had been in place during much of the construction project.
