ACTIVE STATE OF EMERGENCY

As Florida continues to recover from Hurricane Helene, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is also actively monitoring Hurricane Milton.

Interstate lane closures and operations on active construction projects within the projected path of the storm have been suspended.

Contractors on these construction projects are currently securing work sites, clearing traffic control devices
that are not actively being used to direct traffic, and checking drainage systems.

About

This project will restripe the existing travel lanes to accommodate a bikeway along Ola Avenue in Tampa.

other improvements include installation of lighting, signing, and signal enhancements for designated pedestrian crossings along the roadway.   

The Ola Avenue bikeway route will begin at 7th Avenue and travel north to Violet Street then along River Boulevard toward the Hillsborough Avenue pedestrian underpass.

From there, the new bikeway route will continue along Ola Avenue from Hanna Avenue to Highland Avenue, then onto Thomas Street. From Thomas Street, the bikeway will head north along Highland Avenue and Dartmouth Avenue, reaching Kirby Street toward the trailhead at Florida Avenue.

Construction activities are expected to finish during spring of 2026.
