As Florida continues to recover from Hurricane Helene, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is also actively monitoring Hurricane Milton.

Interstate lane closures and operations on active construction projects within the projected path of the storm have been suspended.

Contractors on these construction projects are currently securing work sites, clearing traffic control devices

About

This project is widening Reo Street from a two-lane road to a four-lane road from Cypress Street to Gray Street in Tampa.

When complete, the newly widened road will have two lanes in the southbound direction, one lane in the northbound direction and a two-way turn lane.

Improvements to the intersection of Cypress Street and Reo Street include adding an eastbound right turn lane, a westbound left turn lane, and installing a new traffic signal.

In addition, a 10-foot-wide sidewalk will be added along Reo Street from Gray Street to Cypress Point Park.

Construction activities will take place during daytime and nighttime hours. Work requiring lane closures including paving operations will occur at night from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Access to driveways, sidewalks, and side streets are being maintained.

Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through the work zone and remain alert for pedestrians and construction workers.

Construction activities are expected to finish during spring 2025.

Please be advised that some properties may have fencing, irrigation lines, plantings, signage, and other decorative items in the FDOT’s right of way that require removal to avoid damage before construction activities begin.
