About

This project is repaving US 301 from the Manatee County line to State Road 674 (Sun City Center Boulevard) in southern Hillsborough County.

Other work activities include:

  • Adding a 2’ buffer shoulder from the Manatee County line to Lightfoot Road and from Willow Road to Saffold Road.
  • Adding a 4’ buffer shoulder from Lightfoot Road to Willow Road and from Saffold Road to north of Hidden Creek Blvd.
  • Improving the turning radius at Lightfoot Road onto US 301.  
  • Adding a new southbound left-turn lane onto Bishop Drive.
  • Extending and widening the northbound right-turn lanes at Saffold Road and Bonita Drive.

Work is taking place during the day and at night. At times, travel lanes may close from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.  

Access to driveways, sidewalks, and side streets will be maintained during this project.

Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through the work zone and remain alert for pedestrians and construction workers.

Construction activities are expected to finish by late 2026.
