About
This safety and operational improvements project will construct an additional auxiliary lane along the outside lane of eastbound I-4 from east of the Tampa Bypass Canal to west of the exit ramps to I-75.
To construct the project, heavy machinery will be used during daytime and nighttime hours and at times, may produce noise, vibration, and require the use of bright lights during nighttime work.
Work requiring lane closures will occur at night between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through the work zone and remain alert for construction workers.
Construction activities are anticipated to finish during spring 2027.

Lane closures (eastbound): Sunday, May 17 through Thursday, May 21, nights from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. -
Eastbound I-4 Ramps (Exit 9) to I-75 Closing Sunday Night
Tampa, FL – The eastbound I-4 ramps to northbound and southbound I-75 (Exit 9) will close temporarily at night from 9 p.m., Sunday, May 17, to 5 a.m., Monday, May 18, weather permitting.
Motorists should exit the interstate at Exit 10, turn left on Mango Road, then use the westbound entrance ramp, and proceed toward Exit 9 to access I-75 north or south.
Message boards and signage will assist drivers traveling through the detour. Motorists should use caution while driving through the work zone and remain alert for construction workers.
