About
This design-build project is constructing the new I-4 Truck Parking Facility and making roadway and pedestrian improvements to I-4 and County Line Road in Hillsborough County.
The new I-4 Truck Parking Facility will be built on a 40-acre FDOT-owned site and provide 120 truck parking spaces.
The new facility will be incorporated into Florida’s Truck Parking Availability System (TPAS) to provide drivers with real-time available parking information via mobile application and dynamic roadside signs.
The project includes other infrastructure improvements for trucks accessing the I-4 Truck Parking Facility, traffic entering and exiting eastbound and westbound I-4 ramps, and County Line Road.
Improvements include:
- Replacing the traffic signal and providing dual right and left turn lanes from the eastbound I-4 exit ramp onto County Line Road.
- Adding a traffic signal and providing dual right and left turn lanes from the westbound I-4 exit ramp onto County Line Road.
- Reducing the radii and adding truck aprons to accommodate trucks.
- Modifying traffic signals and reconfiguring travel lanes along County Line Road to reduce truck delays and improve mobility.
- Installing new signing and pavement markings, highway lighting, and ITS systems.
This project is currently in the design phase. Construction activities are expected to start during summer/fall of 2025.

What is design-build? Design-build is a method of project delivery in which one entity - the design-build team - works under a single contract with the FDOT (or any owner) to fully design and construct a project. The contract work covers from initial design through construction completion. This contract type typically allows for faster construction of a project as design and construction can be on-going simultaneously.
