About

The FDOT is constructing a new I-4 Truck Parking Facility at the southwest corner of the I-4 and County Line Road interchange in Hillsborough County.

The new I-4 Truck Parking Facility is being built on a 49-acre FDOT-owned site and will provide 160 truck parking spaces.

The new facility will be integrated into Florida’s Truck Parking Availability System (TPAS) to provide drivers with real-time parking availability information via a mobile application and dynamic roadside signs.

Improvements include:

  • Replacing the traffic signal and providing dual right and left turn lanes from the eastbound I-4 exit ramp onto County Line Road.
  • Adding a traffic signal and providing dual right and left turn lanes from the westbound I-4 exit ramp onto County Line Road.
  • Reducing the radii and adding truck aprons to accommodate trucks.
  • Modifying traffic signals and reconfiguring travel lanes along County Line Road to reduce truck delays and improve mobility.
  • Installing new signage and pavement markings, highway lighting, and ITS systems.
  • Installing a 175-foot pole, displaying an 80 x 50-foot American flag and a 30 x 20-foot state of Florida flag

Construction activities on the $29.4 million project are expected to finish in late 2026.

What is design-build? Design-build is a method of project delivery in which one entity - the design-build team - works under a single contract with the FDOT (or any owner) to fully design and construct a project.  The contract work covers from initial design through construction completion.  This contract type typically allows for faster construction of a project as design and construction can be on-going simultaneously.
