About
This project is reconstructing the intersection of US 301 at Symmes Road from asphalt to concrete pavement, performing drainage improvements, and updating sidewalk ramps to ADA standards in Hillsborough County.
In addition, new traffic signals have been installed at Rhodine Road and Summerfield Boulevard/Ramble Creek Drive and will be installed at the intersections of US 301 and Shady Preserve Drive.
Access to driveways, sidewalks, and side streets to be maintained. Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through the work zone and remain alert for pedestrians and construction workers.
Construction activities are taking place during daytime and nighttime hours. Work requiring lane closures will occur nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Construction is estimated to finish during early 2027.

NOW OPEN: Symmes Road to the east of US 301 in Riverview
Riverview, FL – Symmes Road, east of US 301, is now open to traffic. During the early morning hours on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, crews reopened the intersection of US 301 and Symmes Road in Riverview, with new concrete travel lanes.
Message boards and signage remain in place to assist drivers traveling through the area. Access to businesses, residents, and emergency vehicles are being maintained.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is making improvements to the intersection of US 301 and Symmes Road in Hillsborough County. This project is replacing the asphalt pavement with a durable concrete surface, performing minor drainage work, and updating curb ramps and sidewalks to ADA standards.
