Lightfoot Road west of US 301 Closing Sunday Night

Wimauma, FL – Beginning at 8 p.m., Sunday, May 3, and continuing through 6 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, a section of Lightfoot Road will close to the west of US 301 and east of Sundance Trail for drainage pipe installation work, weather permitting.

During this temporary road closure, motorists will have to detour around the work zone using Sundance Trail to access US 301.

Access to businesses, residents, and emergency vehicles to be maintained. Advanced warning signs and message boards will assist motorists traveling through this area. Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through the work zone and remain alert for pedestrians and construction workers.

This project is repaving US 301 from the Manatee County line to State Road 674 (Sun City Center Boulevard) in southern Hillsborough County. Other improvements include adding buffered shoulders, improving the turning radius at Lightfoot Road onto US 301, adding a new southbound left-turn lane onto Bishop Drive, and extending the northbound right-turn lanes at Saffold Road and Bonita Drive. Construction activities are expected to finish by late 2026.
