New Traffic Pattern Coming to Eastbound S.R. 60 Near Kennedy Boulevard

Tampa, FL – Beginning tonight, Wednesday, September 16, motorists traveling eastbound on S.R. 60 near Kennedy Boulevard will encounter overnight lane closures as crews implement a new traffic pattern, weather permitting.

Beginning at 9 p.m., lane closures will be implemented on S.R. 60 eastbound, with up to three lanes closed overnight while crews complete the traffic shift and install temporary pavement markings. All lanes are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Thursday in the new traffic configuration.

As part of the new traffic pattern, all four eastbound travel lanes will shift toward the outside of the existing roadway to establish a work zone along the median. Temporary pavement has been constructed along the outside of the roadway to accommodate the shifted travel lanes.

The new traffic pattern is expected to remain in place for approximately one year while crews construct a new bridge pier within the median work area.

Advanced warning signs and message boards will be in place to assist motorists traveling through the area. Motorists should use caution, remain alert for changing traffic conditions, and allow additional travel time.
