About
Two projects have been combined to be built under one construction contract.
The purpose of this project is to preserve and extend the life of the existing pavement through milling and resurfacing on two state roadways:
- SR 56 from Bruce B. Downs Boulevard to Meadow Point Boulevard (3.8 miles)
- SR 581 (Bruce B. Downs Boulevard) from SR 56 to SR 54 (3.5 miles)
This project will improve traffic flow on Meadow Pointe Boulevard near the SR 56 intersection. The work will adjust the merge area and roadway transitions to create two 12‑foot lanes that safely accommodate the added left‑turn movements at SR 56.
The project also includes intersection safety improvements at the SR 56 / Bruce B. Downs Boulevard intersection, ADA feature enhancements, minor drainage improvements, traffic signal upgrades, and overhead lighting.
Construction is anticipated to begin in late summer / early fall 2026.
