Alt US 19 Widening at SR 586 (Curlew Road) and SR 586 (Curlew Road) Repaving from Bogie Lane to Fisher Road 448486-1-52-01
Project Details
About
This project will widen the intersection of Alternate US 19 (Bayshore Blvd) and SR 586 (Curlew Road). Additional lanes will be added as follows:
- 1 northbound ALT US 19 travel lane from south of Baywood Drive to north of SR 586 (Curlew Road)
- 1 southbound ALT US 19 travel lane from SR 586 (Curlew Road) to Baywood Drive
- 1 eastbound SR 586 (Curlew Road) travel lane from ALT US 19 to just west of St. Marks Drive
A new traffic signal will be installed at this intersection to accommodate the widening.
Additional Safety Improvements:
- A pedestrian crossing will be added at ALT US 19 and Tradewinds Drive, complete with overhead signals.
- Sidewalks and bicycle lanes will be extended and improved throughout the project area.
- Bus stops will be enhanced, and a new bus bay will be added.
This project will also extend the life of the existing pavement through resurfacing and improve drainage along Alternate US 19 (Bayshore Blvd) and SR 586 (Curlew Road) in Pinellas County.
FDOT project numbers 448486-1-52-01 and 448041-1-52-01 have been combined into a single construction contract. All updates and alerts will be posted on this page.
*Construction cost includes original construction contract amount plus approved contract changes. It does not include inspection oversite.

Public Involvement
AUGUST 2024 PUBLIC MEETING: FDOT held a public meeting on Thursday, August 1, 2024, to review the proposed median modification on Alternate US 19, just south of Curlew Road/Causeway Boulevard in Pinellas County, Florida. The meeting took place in person at the Hampton Inn Dunedin, located at 2641 Michael Place, Dunedin, FL 34698. For those unable to attend in person, the presentation was made available on the project's webpage starting August 1, 2024.
