IMPORTANT CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Construction on this project is temporarily suspended. The original project contractor submitted a letter on July 28, 2021 informing the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) that it was financially unable to perform or complete the performance of the work as prime contractor, which constitutes a voluntary default by the contractor.

FDOT projects have contract bonds issued by a surety company, which is a contract requirement. The surety is in the process of contracting with a completion contractor.

A project completion date will be determined once the completion contract is awarded and a schedule is agreed to by the completion contractor and the Department.

Updates about hiring a new contractor and resuming work will be posted on this page and sent to list subscribers (click the button above this section to subscribe to the email alert list for this project).

Your patience is appreciated while the completion contractor process moves forward.

This project involves widening US 19 in Homosassa Springs from four lanes to a six-lane divided highway with bike lanes, paved shoulders and sidewalk from West Green Acres Street to West Jump Court.

Lane Closures
  • Lane closed on northbound US 19 at the Grover Cleveland Boulevard / Halls River Road intersection

Homosassa, FL -- Due to a depression in the roadway, the right lane of northbound US 19 is closed from north of Yulee Drive to the Grover Cleveland Boulevard / Halls River Road intersection. The lane will remain closed until further notice.

Also, the westbound Grover Cleveland Boulevard right turn lane onto northbound US 19 is closed, along with one of the two left turn lanes from southbound US 19 onto eastbound Grover Cleveland Boulevard (the outside left turn lane is open).
