The Florida Department of Transportation's Design-Build Firm, Cone & Graham, Inc., is making operational and safety improvements to SR 44 (Main Street) from Pleasant Grove Road to Montgomery Avenue in Citrus County.

Construction is underway and expected to be complete during the spring of 2026.

What is design-build? Design-build is a method of project delivery in which one entity - the design-build team - works under a single contract with the FDOT (or any owner) to fully design and construct a project.  The contract work covers from initial design through construction completion.  This contract type typically allows for faster construction of a project as design and construction can be on-going simultaneously.
