About

The City of St. Petersburg, in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) through the Local Agency Program (LAP), will replace the existing 62nd Avenue South Bridge over Maximo Channel.

The project includes constructing a new bridge superstructure and removing the existing one, as well as rehabilitating the existing substructure and bulkhead caps to extend the bridge’s service life.

Construction will take place in two major phases to allow a single lane of traffic to remain open throughout the duration of the project.

When complete, the new bridge will feature two travel lanes and a raised sidewalk, enhancing safety and accessibility for motorists and pedestrians traveling along 62nd Avenue South.

Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2025.
