Project Details
Work Type Repaving and new multi-use trail
Phase Construction
Limits From Hernando County Line to West Green Acres Street
Project Start January 2021
Length 6.8 miles
Construction Cost $20 million

Construction on this project is temporarily suspended. The original project contractor submitted a letter on July 28, 2021 informing the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) that it was financially unable to perform or complete the performance of the work as prime contractor, which constitutes a voluntary default by the contractor.

FDOT projects have contract bonds issued by a surety company, which is a contract requirement. The surety is in the process of contracting with a completion contractor.

A project completion date will be determined once the completion contract is awarded and a schedule is agreed to by the completion contractor and the Department.

Updates about hiring a new contractor and resuming work will be posted on this page and sent to list subscribers (click the button above this section to subscribe to the email alert list for this project).

Your patience is appreciated while the completion contractor process moves forward.

This project will repave US 19/US 98 (Suncoast Blvd) between the Hernando County line and West Green Acres Street in Citrus County. A northbound right turn lane will be added at Cardinal Street and left turn lanes will be constructed at various median openings within the project limits.  A new 10 foot wide multi-use trail will be built on the east side of US 19. A 5 foot wide sidewalk will be built on the west side of the highway.
