About
This pilot project will widen the paved shoulders on I-275 (within the interstate right of way) to 12 feet, add appropriate signs and pavement markings to accommodate bus operations on the interstate shoulders between 5th Avenue North (exit 23B) and Gandy Boulevard (exit 28) in St. Petersburg.
When complete, buses will be allowed to utilize the interstate shoulders to maintain a travel speed of up to 35 mph when the mainline speed falls below that. This will help to maintain travel time reliability.
The project is expected to finish in the spring of 2021.
