Central Avenue New Bikeway from 7th Avenue to Florida Avenue 440511-6-52-01

All construction activities associated with this project were completed on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. 

This project restriped the existing roadway by adding sharrows to accommodate an on-street bikeway along Central Avenue from 7th Avenue to Florida Avenue in Tampa.

Improvements: 

• added traffic calming elements along corridor
• modified sidewalks and ADA ramps
• added new striping to crosswalks
• installed wayfinding signage
• added bulb outs for on-street parking and pedestrian safety
• installed Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at Palm Avenue, Columbus Drive, Fern Street, and Flora Street
• removed the existing traffic signal and added a four-way stop at Central Avenue and Lake Avenue
• installed a new signal at Florida Avenue and 7th Avenue 

This project was constructed in conjunction with the Ola Avenue new bikeway project from 7th Avenue to Florida Avenue (Financial Project Number 440511-5-52-01).
