About

This project will build a pedestrian overpass over SR 54 as part of the Suncoast Trail. 

The existing Suncoast Trail will be reconstructed to accommodate the overpass and will also maintain a street-level crossing for pedestrians and bicyclists to cross SR 54

Construction is underway as of June 22, 2026.

  • SR 54 entrance ramp onto SR 589 (Suncoast Parkway)
    Partial closure of the right shoulder and merge lane (but full access to SR 589 will be available): Monday, July 27 through Saturday, August 1 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 

    SR 589 (Suncoast Parkway) southbound exit ramp to SR 54
    Partial closure of the right turn lane (but turns will be available): Monday, July 27 through Saturday, August 1 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

    Touchpoint Drive
    Access to Suncoast Trail Trailhead closed: Around-the-clock through summer 2027


     

  • SR 54 entrance ramp onto SR 589 (Suncoast Parkway)

  • Suncoast Trail Trailhead is CLOSED

    Odessa -- The Suncoast Trail Trailhead, located at the end of Touchpoint Drive on the north side of SR 54 in Pasco County, is now closed (began early June 23, 2026). The closure is expected to be in place until the end of the project, which is anticipated in summer 2027.
