As of January 30, 2023, all construction activities associated with this project have been completed.
The design-build project includes replacing the existing two-lane bascule bridge with a two-lane, high-level, fixed bridge (Bayway Structure "E," which is the bridge between Isla Del Sol and Tierra Verde islands), repaving the existing SR 679 roadway between SR 682 and the new bridge, and replacing a seawall south of the bridge along SR 679 in Pinellas County.
The project will also include the construction of a 12-foot-wide shared-use path on the east side and a 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk on the west side of SR 679. Other improvements include the addition of a round-about at Madonna Boulevard / 1st Street.
- Three projects; 410755-2, 427143-2, 432587-1 have been combined into a single design-build project. This page will serve as the source of information for the entire design-build effort.
The $56.8 million design-build project is expected to finish early 2023.
