About
The interchange and roadway improvement project is modifying the existing six-lane divided highway to a six-lane controlled access roadway with one-way frontage roads in both directions parallel to US 19 from SR 580 (Main Street) to the north of CR 95/CR 39 in Pinellas County.
In addition, new interchanges will be added just north of Boy Scout Road and at SR 586 (Curlew Road) to improve traffic flow along this corridor.
A pedestrian underpass will be added between Evans Road and Republic Drive and a pedestrian bridge over US 19 is being constructed at Northside Drive.
Construction is estimated to finish in 2030.

FDOT project numbers 256774-2 and 256774-3 have been combined into a single construction contract. All updates and alerts will be posted on this page.

Congress Avenue Access from US 19 Closing Temporarily
Clearwater, FL – Beginning Friday, October 23, access to Congress Avenue from southbound US 19 is closing for approximately ten days, weather permitting.
During this temporary road closure, motorists will have to detour around the work zone using SR 586 (Curlew Road), SR 580 (Main Street) and Belcher Road.
Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will assist motorists traveling through the area. Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone and remain alert for construction workers.
This temporary road closure is for the ongoing improvements to US 19 from SR 580 to the north of CR 95 in Pinellas County.
