The Florida Department of Transportation contractor is repaving SR 60 from west of SR 39 to west of Clarence Gordon Jr. Road in Hillsborough County.

In addition, this project is replacing the intersection's asphalt pavement with concrete at SR 60 and SR 39 and modifying two median openings on SR 60. These closures will improve safety and bring the road up to current access design standards along the corridor.

Construction activities are expected to finish during fall 2026.

This project is being constructed in conjunction with Financial Project Number 443427-1-52-01. For more information on that project, please click here.

  • Good morning! Here is a quick and important project update on the intersection improvements at SR 60 and SR 39 in Plant City.

As of this morning, County Road 39 to the south of SR 60 has reopened to traffic.

State Road 39 north of SR 60 is now closed for approximately 21 days. Drivers must follow the posted detour routes (Hwy 37, US 92, and Turkey Creek Road) to access SR 39 to the north.

Eastbound and westbound travel lanes on SR 60 remain open through the intersection.

Message boards and signage are in place to assist drivers traveling through the area. Commercial vehicles and trucks should follow the posted detour routes, avoid using local roads as alternate routes, and are reminded to drive safely through the work zone.

    Thank you!  Maricelle

Plant City, FL – State Road 39 just north of State Road 60 will close for about 21 days starting at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, weather permitting.

During this closure, drivers must detour around the work zone using Turkey Creek Road or County Line Road, and US 92 to access SR 39. Eastbound and westbound SR 60, along with CR 39 to the south of the intersection, will be open to traffic during this phase of construction.

Message boards and signage will assist drivers traveling through the area. Commercial vehicles and trucks are reminded to follow the posted detour routes, avoid using local roads as alternate routes, and drive safely through the work zone.

Drivers may experience delays and congestion on nearby roads, as crews replace the asphalt pavement with concrete travel lanes on SR 39 north of SR 60. This project also includes resurfacing SR 60 from SR 39 to Clarence Gordon Jr Road and modifying median openings on SR 60 east and west of SR 39. Construction activities are expected to be completed by fall 2026.
